Government of India may ban Alibaba's UC web browser for stealing users data and sending it to server located at China. This has come under the scrutiny of the government as part of investigations against Chinese companies over data theft.
UC Browser claimed to have over 100 million monthly active users in India as per a report last year while globally, its user base is nearly 420 million.
Government has sent notices to more than 40+ Chinese companies for violating the privacy norms including few of big names like Xiaomi, Lenovo etc.
