Apple IPad and IPad 3G Review, iPad Lines Photos, First Video

The iPad comes in two models: Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi plus 3G. Apple promises up to 7.2 Mbps over 3G, though the device will switch between 3G and Wi-Fi depending on the quality of the connection.

Want to tap into 3G? Users can purchase data plans directly from the iPad by going to Settings and then Cellular Data. Type in your user information, choose a plan, and provide your credit card information to get going.

The iPad has two 3G data plan options through AT&T: $14.99 a month for 250MB or $29.99 for unlimited data. For those who choose 250MB, the iPad will "let you know when you're running out" of data, Apple said on its Web site.

As you approach the 250MB cap, the iPad will provide three alerts – when you're at the 20 percent and 10 percent threshold, and when you're at zero. When each alert pops up, you can choose to add another 250MB, switch to an unlimited plan, or opt to choose later.

Apple announced plans for the iPad in January and started taking pre-orders on Friday. The Wi-Fi versions will be delivered April 3 and the 3G devices are expected to go out in late April.
